This was one of those songs that came from one of my own experiences when I was young and had not been playing with the band for too many years. There was this pretty young girl that I saw there at the dance, and it was plain to see that her and her boyfriend just weren't hitting it off to well. We played for that same place for quite some time, and there she would be, just as pretty as a picture, but it just seemed no matter what I tried to do I just could not get to talk to her. Well, all these years later, I never saw her again, and life went on, but I just had to write a song about that girl I saw from "The far side of the room".

FAR SIDE OF THE ROOM  The first time that I saw you, at a place I used to go. You looked to me like you just lost someone you loved so. I wanted to hold you, and be with you alone. But the closest that I got to you was the far side of the room. I never could get close to you, things  always come between, you'd be right at my fingertips, then suddenly it seems, I'd be right there to take your hand, then you'd be gone and soon. I'd be right back where I started from, on the far side of the room. Musical Turn Around.  From that very first moment, you meant so much to me, but I just could not find a way to make you notice me. I'd dream of someday taking you to be my very own, but I'd always end up watching you from the far side of the room. I never could get close to you, things always come between. you'd be right at my finger tips, then suddenly it seems. I'd be right there to take your hand, but you'd be gone and soon, I'd be right back where I started from, on the far side of the room. I'd be right back where I started from, on the far side of the room.
